Expectations

A gentle reminder,

as these expectations

can slip our minds

When we remember,

a better classroom

you will find!

Music Class Expectations Include:

You are expected to have all materials with you to class. Arriving to class unprepared, and then asking to go to your locker to get your required materials after the bell has rang will be considered “late”. Once you arrive to the class, it is expected that you take your seat and are ready to begin our lesson at this point.

Loitering in near the doorway of the green room after the bell has rung is also considered late, even if you are “here”.

When you arrive to music class, it is expected that you get your instrument set up, a stand and chair out, music ready, and you begin an appropriate warm-up on your instrument.

If you are going to be absent and know ahead of time, please see me for work while you will be gone. This work will be accepted when you return.

Attendance is an important part of being successful in school. If you must miss a class, please ask another student to collect your work during that missed class. It is your responsibility to complete and submit this work.

If at any point you feel that you are struggling in class, please feel free to stop by my office (Green Room) or make arrangements with me after class time to meet. It is up to you to make these arrangements if you feel they are necessary.

Food (including candy) is not permitted in the Green Room. Students may bring in water as long as they dispose of the containers. Snacks are allowed in regular classrooms, as long as they are consumed during appropriate times and all garbage is cleaned up.

Cell phones are allowed in class, so long as they are not a distraction to completing assignments. Occasionally we will need to look up a song/lyrics/etc, and a cell phone can be a very useful tool in this case. However, your phone should not become more important than the task at hand.
